The concept of an ideal economy according to the Quran is itself grounded in a framework of sustainability. Therefore, the circulation of wealth is continuous so that wealth does not remain in the hands of the few (rich), and when consumption happens, it is not in extravagance, opulence or waste (Quran 6:141; 7:31-32, 23:64-65, 34:34- 35 and 43:23), but it is in a fair manner and a balanced way (Quran 2:236; 17:100 and 25:67). While savings are meant to be a precaution against uncertainty, hoarding is prohibited.
